Why should I meditate?

​“Why should I meditate? Isn’t it a waste of time? I can finish off one or two chores using that time…“ Does this thought feel familiar? Let me try to put it as briefly as I can… There is no more beautiful experience than knowing your own self. The only way to be selfless is to connect with your true self. Everything else will make you selfish in some way or the other. The real nature (Sattva) of your true self is always divine, is to be in service to the purpose of your birth. It may take a lifetime for some of us to feel that connection, or a few years or if you are really lucky enough, may be months of practice... How fascinating would it be to finally wake up one day and say “hello” to your true, beautiful, divine self?!

Meditation helps me to clear my mind, especially after a long hectic working day. I can feel the calmness and peace. I am able to listen to myself in a better way. I am getting more clarity on the next steps on what ever was worrying/occupying my mind/brain. Also, my energy level goes up. I can really feel the difference after starting yoga practice.

Thanks Gayathri for that honest reply. You said it ! You have beautifully explained how Meditation practically helps you to de-clutter your thought process, helps you to feel your inner peace, helps you to tune-into yourself. Clarity of thought and Energy level going up is a by-product of all the above... Thanks for that detailed reply, I always learn a lot from sharing experiences like this...
